Fluorescence Cameras

Indigo Scientific offers a full range of fluorescence cameras, this means you don't need to spend a huge amount of money to achieve great fluorescence images. Some of our cameras may be used to take both colour and fluorescence images.

Capturing digital images of fluorescing samples is more demanding than colour imaging and is often termed ‘low-light’ microscopy imaging . For this reason monochrome cameras are frequently used. As a rough guide a two-fold increase in camera sensitivity can be achieved by simply supplying a colour type camera with no colour filter in front of the chip. In monochrome the background is black and sample signal grey to white on the grey scale depending on intensity of signal. Each fluorescent dye has its own pre-defined colour (emission wavelength) so this colour can  easily be added as the image is captured to be viewed on screen in the correct colour, then combined with other dyes to achieve multi coloured images.
