Image Stack Viewer for Microscopy, TIFF, TIF & Serial Image Stacks
Free Windows image stack viewer for TIFF/TIF, PNG, JPEG and other serial image datasets. Browse large microscopy stacks, measure features, annotate images and create fly-through videos.
View Tif/Tiff images and stacks with ease with simple tools to make it easier. For Windows 10/11 64 Bit.

Overview
Stack Image Viewer is a free image stack viewer developed by Indigo Scientific for browsing TIFF/TIF stacks and large serial image datasets on Windows.
Rather than loading an entire multi-gigabyte or terabyte dataset into RAM, images are loaded individually as you move through the stack. This makes it practical to rapidly browse large microscopy datasets using a simple image index slider.
The viewer was originally developed for successive microscopy techniques such as High Resolution Episcopic Microscopy (HREM) and block-face imaging, where hundreds or thousands of sequential sections need to be inspected quickly. It can also be used with serial datasets generated using light-sheet microscopy, micro-CT and other 3D imaging techniques.
Features
-
TIFF/TIF and general image stack viewing – browse serial TIFF, TIF, PNG, JPEG, BMP and other supported image sequences.
-
Fast stack navigation – move through large image datasets using an image slider, previous/next controls or direct image index selection.
-
Pan and zoom viewer – inspect individual sections with flexible zoom and image movement controls.
-
Large dataset support – view image stacks without loading the entire dataset into memory.
-
Adjustable image downscaling – reduce display resolution for faster navigation through very large images.
-
Physical image dimensions – read TIFF resolution metadata where available and display image width, height and pixel calibration.
-
Distance measurements – draw measurement lines directly over an image. Calibrated images display real-world measurements; uncalibrated images can be measured in pixels.
-
Area measurements – outline regions of interest and calculate their area.
-
Non-destructive annotations – measurements and annotations are displayed separately from the source image and do not modify the original data.
-
Export annotated images – create a separate image containing measurement lines, areas and labels while preserving the original.
-
Fly-through video creation – export a 2D image stack as an MP4 video for rapidly visualising movement through a serial dataset.
-
Scale bars and image names in video – calibrated datasets can include a measurement bar beneath the image alongside the source image name.
-
Multi-page TIFF viewing – open and navigate multi-page TIF/TIFF files.
-
Create multi-page TIFF stacks – combine a folder of TIFF images into a multi-page TIFF file.

Applications
This stack viewer can be used for any serial dataset for TIF and TIFF images. Designed for large gigabyte/terabyte stacks that require large transitions between images without loading the whole stack into the RAM.
Visualise 2D sections of mice, zebrafish, agricultural samples imaged with High Resolution Episcopic Microscopy(HREM) or from other technologies and techniques such as Light Sheet or Micro CT.

Software
Combine and montage 2D images with multiple tools for combining and aligning images.
Software
Visualises TIF/TIFF stacks easily without bulky UI delay or loading in all images.
